junk mail filter

Spam Sieve now informs me that Apple mail will not be compatible with SpamSieve and it is suggested that I disable this. Looking for a free Good junk mail filter.

Is there an app that can help block spam mail in my inbox? I'm finding dealing with spam in Mac Mail and iOS Mail very frustrating, as the tools provided are practically useless... 'Blocking' senders doesn't block anything, the emails still arrive but just have a fancy 🚫 attached to them. And they always appear as un-read, which, to me, is pointless, as I don't want to see them at all. Until recently, iCloud Mail allowed Rules for domains and domain extensions - so any (probably unwanted) email ending with .fr or .jp or .rom, for example, could be sent straight to trash and marked as read before even appearing on my devices. That was actually useful, but has now been withdrawn. Decades-old BT Mail allows for the actual blocking of addresses and domains, and works perfectly. So my question is, can anyone suggest an extension or app which handles spam better than Mac Mail and iOS Mail? More like BT Mail perhaps, where blocked emails are never even seen...? Thanks. mail setting Enabling junk mail filtering: after closing mail app and reopening filtering has been turned off? How? Why? How do I keep junk mail filtering enabled? Same with rules. After applying 2 new rules they are gone the next time I checked.

The SpamSieve plug-in for Apple Mail is not compatible with macOS Sonoma because Sonoma eliminated support for all Mail plug-ins. If SpamSieve detects remnants of the plug-in setup on Sonoma, it will suggest that you remove the old SpamSieve rule in Mail to protect you from Mail moving messages to Junk without consulting SpamSieve.

However, the SpamSieve plug-in continues to work on macOS Ventura and earlier. And SpamSieve does work on macOS Sonoma using the new Mail extension system. There’s more information about this here.
