Still Receiving Notifications

Can anyone tell me why I still receive notifications when airplane mode is on and Wi-Fi is turned off (as well as cellular data since Wi-Fi and cellular turn off when airplane mode is turned on).

What can I do about this? I receive notifications as if the phone is still on so pretty regularly. They are various app notifications, which I understand that I can turn those app notifications off, but I shouldn’t be receiving them at all with the phone in airplane mode.

Thanks!

Have you verified that the comms are off, or are you assuming that the Airplane mode setting does that?

Depending in where you are, what Airplane mode controls can vary: “United States: In a revised review in October 2013, the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) made a recommendation on the use of electronic devices in "airplane mode"—cellular telephony must be disabled, while Wi-Fi may be used if the carrier offers it. Short-range transmission such as Bluetooth is permissible on aircraft that can tolerate it. The statement cites the common practice of aircraft operators whose aircraft can tolerate use of these personal electronic devices, but use may still be prohibited on some models of aircraft.“

Rather than Airplane mode in Settings, you can access both Wi-Fi and cellular in Settings, and shut both of those off individually.

Using a Focus provides more granular control over notifications, visible apps, overrides, and other details.

Thanks for your reply. I am shutting them off from settings every time. I didn’t even know how to shut them off from the control center.

I can set up a focus but again with airplane mode on, Wi-Fi off as well as cellular not connected, I absolutely should not be receiving notifications. So again, does anyone know how I can stop that or why it’s even happening?

Yes, first I turn off cellular data, then I turn off Wi-Fi and I make sure Bluetooth is off and then I turn on airplane mode. I still receive notifications. That makes me feel that the phone really isn’t in airplane mode. Therefore if I used focus for DND, I would not feel that the phone was inaccessible. I would only feel that I was blocking any notifications from coming in. It’s really not about the notifications. It’s about the fact that the phone is still receiving signals. Do you know why? Do you know how to stop that, thanks.
