Softether L2TP IPSec VPN connection issues

Hi all,

over the last few days (!) I've been battling with getting a VPN network set up. I've got a Win10 machine on my home network which I installed Softether VPN on and I want to connect through my Mac to the VPN. I can connect fine via my other Windows machines, but they also have the Softether VPN Client installed.

When I use the same settings however on my Mac to connect through the built-in L2TP connection, simply nothing will work. I can't reach the L2TP server. I've tried OpenVPN and Viscosity clients, but the same issue. I'm a bit lost at how to even troubleshoot this.

Anyone have any current VPN connections through Softether that could give me a hand here? This is just doing my head in. Thanks everyone!
