Verizon is telling me that Apple disabled the option to toggle caller id with iOS17, but I tend to doubt it. Can anyone else confirm?

I am on a different carrier, and I am getting the same results. Using v17.3 there is no option within the 'phone' setting that has anything to do with caller ID. Apple must have pulled that feature recently because they forgot to remove the caller ID info from the 'settings' search results.

Apple has not pulled the feature. It's carrier determined. This is generally a feature of legacy CDM carriers. Who is your carrier?

You are absolutely right. After additional researching I came across the same information as well. My carrier is Visible (by Verizon) which told me that option is not available. Since, I only need to add *67 to a couple telephone numbers having my caller ID hidden permanently has become a moot point.

Yup. For the life of me, I don't understand why this is still an issue for Verizon. And I worked for them for twenty years!

That toggle has never been an option for phones on Verizon's network (having to do with Verizon being a legacy CDMA network). You have always had to dial the shortcodes.

I worked for Verizon Wireless for 20 years. Whoever you talked to doesn't know what they're talking about.

To keep this relevant to anyone who may search this and to have an updated answer, it is carried based. My husband is on T-Mobile and the “hide my caller id” is right there after you select phone in settings, on mine however, I’m on Verizon because I needed the better coverage for where I work, i have the options still in the settings search bar but when i select them it takes me to phone and it is not there. Apple did not remove the feature as my husband has an XR running 17.5.1 and i have a 15 Pro Max running 17.5.1 as well. If it was removed by Apple he would only have it I assume if he never updated his phone, because an update would remove it. The other option is it’s possibly just been a removed feature on newer iPhones including 13 and newer, but my friend uses At&t on a 14 Pro Max and she has that option, and then it shouldn’t still show up in search on the newer phones then. Hope this helps any future people visiting this post with the same question.

You are absolutely right! After additional researching I came across the same information. My carrier is Visible (by Verizon) which has indicated hiding one's caller ID is not available. Since, I only need to add *67 to a couple telephone numbers (mainly estranged family members) having my caller ID hidden permanently has become a moot point.

Yup, that's what I've been trying to explain.

As I explained above, Apple didn't remove the feature. It's entirely determined by the Carrier Profile. And it has never been an option for Verizon customers.
