iPad could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt
I am trying to update my iPad to iOS 17.
Before you try to send me generic links about iOS compatibility with hardware, my iPad is of model A1897 corresponding to iPad (6th gen), which is obviously and clearly within the list of compatible iPad models.
The iPad's current iOS version is 12.1(16B92), which is significantly behind the iOS 17. This could be the reason why I am basically unable to update by simply downloading wirelessly to the iPad.
Thus, I am trying to update via Finder by connecting the iPad to my Mac. After connecting, I am able to see a software "update" option on my Mac. Upon clicking it, the iPad software downloading begins followed by a software extraction process. However, it then gives me the error of "The iPad could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt". Telling me to "Disconnect and reconnect, then try again." to which I have attempted multiple times.
I have definitely browsed through Apple community posts and searched on the Internet about this before posting. Please if you are a professional community answerer, refrain from giving generic answers and posting links like this that people have certainly looked into before asking, something even generative AI would do better.
