Just bought a 2017 MacBook Air and need to reinstall the OS. Did the option command R and it wants to install macOS Monterey. 12.4GB download started at 2 hours and now says 15 hours 42 minutes remains. Is this normal?

Having a long time estimate could indicate that your Mac has a poor Wi-Fi connection. Is there a different Wi-Fi network you could try connecting to?
