How to turn off Siri suggesting Check In on iPhone

Same. I recently stopped sharing my location with someone and it’s repeatedly telling me to start a check-in with them, which I definitely don’t want to do. I thought it made sense because I used to share my location with this specific person, but the replies in this thread are super weird, lol... We wanna turn this off!!!! 😂😂

Absolutely. I’m giving Apple one more go around with the 15. When I go to upgrade that phone, if they haven’t got their 💩 in a group, I’m switching everything to Android. This 1984 stuff has GOT TO GO.

Mine is doing the same thing. It is having me try to check in with my neighbors, they know if my car isn't in my driveway that I am visiting my parents or grandparents. It is very annoying and frustrating. Then when I cancel it any text messages I get will just say "notification" until I reset my phone.

I turned my phone off and on a few days ago and had to re-sign in to several things. Today, (August 9, 2024) I got a check in request for a friend. What on earth!!! Why would I want to check in with a friend?!? I never requested this, nor did she … but I thought she did. Then I got a notification reminder that Siri would let her know when I reached my destination. … then Siri automatically sent her a check-in notification when I reached my destination.

I did not ask for this nor do I want it. Now I have to figure out what the heck it is and why it’s happening! UGH

Just adding to the votes that this feature implementation is truly awful. No one wants these suggestions, and there is no way to figure out where the settings are that generate them, save crawling this forum for what folks have found. Atrocious user experience.

Iv been experiencing this for the past 2-3 months and it’s very creepy. I would like to at least be sure it has nothing to do with a security fault rather than just a Siri suggestion. I hope Apple can have an answer or some one here gets an answer soon.

Still an issue 08/24/2024. I have all Siri settings turned off - have never turned them on - and am prompted to "check in" with one specific contact via Messages "Siri suggestions." Please address this, Apple.

suggestions are turned off in general in siri, and separately for every app. And it still gives me a heart attack popping up suggestions of checking in with my very sick dad, making me think he send me a message and something is wrong. I hate this malware piece of junk and wish I could delete it outright from the phone.

Confirming that this is STILL an issue. I have turned off Siri suggestions. I’ve updated my phone - still getting these “check in with” notifications for people I rarely talk to! Please Apple make it stop lol.

What about Settings > Siri & Search > Show Suggestions ?

Or is that only for when you type in a search box?

Yes, there used to be. However, that program was discontinued about a year ago (I think). They were able to answer questions in specific sub-forums, iPhone being one of them, that had gone unanswered for about 12-24 hours and could be answered largely by a referral to a support article. The program had mixed success. I don't know why it was ended. They might have dealt with this sort of question if no one else had. But they didn't tend to hang around in threads.

its quick and easy fix I just found here. Message them seri then disable all sujestions and learning

I doubt it, I have that turned off and I just got another notification asking me to check in with someone I haven’t spoken to in six months. Absolutely making the switch to any other company minute this phone starts dying

Me too. I get on well with my neighbours in my apartment building but NO !!!! I do not want to be constantly prompted to check in with them. I accidentally confirmed once as the prompt interrupted another app confirmation and now I’m afraid they think I’m a bit weird.

My wife is constantly sending me checkin notifications almost every time she messages me, it’s incredibly annoying, they’re “critical” notifications too, bypassing silence and do not disturb!!! Make it stop!! Allow us to disable this STUPID feature!
