When using Mac Mail, I intend to use inline images but recipients from multiple email clients receive the pictures as attachments instead.

Hi,

There are many times where I want to embed images inline within an email message in Mac Mail.

Mac Mail visually shows the images inline so it doesn't look like there is an issue.

In fact, after sending the email, the sent item shows the images inline as expected.

When I open the email as a recipient, however, in Outlook or mobile or Gmail, the images are attachments and no longer embedded.

I'm a technical user that has been sending inline images via Gmail or Outlook for years and they 'show up' to recipients as such. I'm wondering why when I send via Mac Mail, the images don't 'stay inline' for recipients even though it all looks like it should work.

I'll attach two images. One is how the email looks 'as expected' within the Mac mail sent items with images inline. The other image is how gmail.com receives the email with the images as attachments.

Any ideas how to get Mac Mail to actually send out inline images the way other email clients do so that they actually show up to other email clients as expected?

For anyone that stumbles onto this thread, I have a solution, at least for now. For some reason, when my sending email within Mac Mail contains a signature, other embedded images within the email body start working. The funny thing is, I even created an empty signature. No text and no graphics, just sort of a 'blank' signature. And as long as my email 'contains' that signature, other images that I embed get delivered properly. Very weird but glad it's working. Hope this helps anyone that struggled with this.
