Looking for a way to fix the audio, latency or delay that I am hearing over my headset when I’m recording with my microphone. Help!

I’m really hoping somebody can help me with this, I am trying to record some voice overs on my MacBook Pro using Davinci resolve or any other program or even iMovie. When I plug my microphone in and my headset, I have to set it that I can monitor what I am doing and how the microphone sounds.

Unfortunately, there is a delay, not only can I hear my voice speaking but on the headphones there’s a delay about a half a second, and it messes me up, and there must be a way to turn that delay off. If anybody can help me with this, I would be extremely appreciative.

In a nutshell, there is a delay on my headset, so I’m hearing to voice is the one in my head and the one over the headset. Can someone help me turn this off. I still need to monitor my voice, but I can’t do it when I’m hearing a second voice a half a second later coming over my headset. It Hass to be synchronized perfectly and I know it’s possible. But I don’t know how to do it on a Mac.
