My iPhone is stuck midway of update for my Apple Watch

This worked for me: On your watch, go to Settings > General > Storage. You will see all your apps. One of them will be the new OS file which has been downloaded but not yet installed. Select it and then select the option to delete it. Now go to your phone and start the watch update process as normal.

Just finished trying this and it worked. This kind of a mess Duh! moment. It turned off and restarted my phone several times, but never thought of turning off and restarting my watch. Thanks for the tip.

I finally got mine to work last night. Probably not the right order but worked for me. I connected both my watch and phone to my WiFi, still wasn’t working. I then unpaired my watch, paired my watch again, restarted both my watch and phone. I constantly had to go into my watches storage and delete the OS 10.3.1 download (key step for me), and begin downloading on my phone Apple Watch app. Eventually this started to work. I also had my watch opened on the software update screen so I could see the bar of progress showing. The update itself took about 30-45 minutes. The process to get it figured out took me 3 months. A lot of connecting to wifi, disconnecting, unpairing/pairing of the watch. Restarting the phone and watch.

My update was stuck at "verifying" for days. I manually restarted both my phone and my watch. Afterwards, the update went through. Worth a try if you haven't already.

This process didn’t work for me. Tried it twice. The third time I did a master reboot, only difference in process is that one holds the power button until the Apple logo appears. Even attempting this way, the update sat in ‘preparing mode’ 😔

I’m having a very similar issue. I’ve never been successful in gettin gf my Apple Watch 7 updated with OS 10. Now the update just says paused, and “you can resume the download when you are connected to a WiFi network.” Which I am. Phone is up to date, both on chargers, restarted many time, Watch has enough storage. The bar shows the update maybe made it 5-10% but is now paused. Any help would also be appreciated. Thank you.

I’m having the same problem. Estimating time to update and after 6 hours it’s the same. Again and again the same procedure and the update procedure stopped at the same point.

Same issue on A1976 Apple Watch Series 4. Stuck on verifying. Apple genuses, what do you say?

Agreed. Something is not right in Apple-land. I’m abandoning effort to upgrade to 19.3 until someone in Cupertino wakes up.

I'm having the same issue. However when I go to General, iPhone storage, files, I don't see 10.3 file????

Tried this but it still stalls halfway while preparing.

I have the same issue it shows the estimate time remaining and never moves on.
