Alias Folders on iCloud?

Is it okay to use alias folders within shared folders on iCloud?

I have a family shared iCloud account. On my iCloud Drive I’ve created a shared folder so we can share documents together. Within the shared folder I’ve created a bunch of aliases to folders in my MacBook documents folder. I’ve done it this way so that I don’t have to maintain two sets of files (and to save space). My question is that if something were to happen to me (or my laptop) can my family continue to have access to the files as if the aliases were folders on their own devices. Or is there some sort of “glitchy iCloud thing” that can develop over time across different devices with different versions of operating systems? I just want to make sure this set up is working the way I think it is.

Or is there a better way?

Thank you

Hello,

If your laptop has something happen to it, then its files are gone. No one will be able to follow the aliases to the laptop.

So you need to reverse it - store your documents in the shared folder, and create your aliases on your laptop.

Hope this helps,
