Unable to share iCloud document

Hi, my Mac book air (15.3.2) is not allowing me to share documents/folders on iCloud. Settings seem to be all fine. I've tried sharing through link, email, airdrop, message etc, and to different users; but always the same prompt "unable to share iCloud document"? Are there additional settings that I need to look at? Thanks

See the article Change permissions for files, folders, or disks on Mac - Apple support

    • No Access: Blocks all access to the item.

You can undo any changes to privilege settings for a user or group in the Sharing & Permissions section since opening the Info window. Before closing the Info window, click  at the bottom of the window, then choose “Revert changes.”

The permissions should be like this screen shot .

Yes I could. But now found the source of the problem. With 'advanced data protection' on I could not share folders from iCloud (though I still could through cloud.com and my iPhone!). Once I turned it off, sharing worked fine!

Well done you! 😅 It probably seems obvious ......... now that you know the cause!

I could not see staff in your screen shot , open the small lock by authenticating admin password , you have deleted staff ( selected and clicked over minus sign ) , again click on plus sign a pop up window appears in users and groups if you see staff semi greyed , click over it to highlight and click on select , in my screen shot staff is not visible as I do not deleted ( in users and groups section ) in the last click on apple for enclosed items .

The permissions should be exactly the same in screen shot , when your Mac and other devices like iPhone / iPad and another Mac are signed in with same Apple ID and password , exactly on your network documents and file sharing will automatically start syncing .

However if you plan to send document with mail , right click over the document in finder > share the mail application opens fill up " To " and other credentials( drag and document from finder to desktop again drag and drop to mail app window and send mail Send an email in Mail on Mac - Apple Support . may be the other devices are not necessarily synced , their mail address can be example 1 @gmail.com

Can you click on drop down of privileges what is the status ? , also other iPhone and Macs should be signed in with same Apple ID and password on the same network to share icloud documents .

Also create a new admin account in users and groups , then share the documents , see what are the results .

The permissions should be read and write , change in your Mac .

Thanks. What do you mean with " ...also other iPhone and Macs should be signed in with same Apple ID and password on the same network to share iCloud documents"? I should be able share via iCloud with everyone on or off iCloud.

Also, I created a new admin account, but still unable to share.
