Studio Display audio

After yesterday's macOS update my Studio Display’s audio breaks up

a) the system was up after the Sonoma update but playing any YouTube video via the Studio Display produced a choppy sound

b) so, I unplugged the display's power

c) after waiting about 30 seconds I plugged the power cable back in

d) saw the typical 3-dot indicator for a short period but the display went blank after about 10-15 more seconds

e) not being certain of the state of things I pressed a key or two and tapped the trackpad some but neither attempt to reawaken the display display had any effect

f) only then did I resort to forcing (long press on power button) the Mac to shutdown

g) after powering the Mac did all return to normal


I'm wondering if others have had a similar experience with macOS updates and the Studio Display with this and/or prior updates.


Other than plug/unplug as a "solution" has anyone received other guidance from Apple Support?
