Program windows flying to the edge of screen - how to turn off

How do I stop the behavior of a program (app) window jumping to the display's edges. I just upgraded my macbook pro to Sonoma 14.2.1 and when I click outside a window, all the open windows disappear from center screen and fly to the edge of my display. I found this question answered but it was about using the track pad not a mouse. Show desktop is not selected. Thanks.
