A1708 no power any way tried

I have an extra MacBook Pro A1708 (Late 2016 MacBook Pro 13” without Touch Bar) for my son and it will not turn on any way we tried.

What we tried:

-leaving it plugged in

-Key commands (CMD, OPT, Shift, Power)

-New battery from NinjaBattPro which overloaded a chip on the battery and started smoking when the cable coming off the battery was connected

-Connecting it to an iMac

-Another battery from SNSYIY with a new cable which didn’t smoke but still nothing

-Leaving it plugged in with the new battery.

But now the only other thing I can think of is the keyboard not working, the only power button is on the keyboard so it wouldn’t be able to turn on. Any more ideas? My son has wanted a MacBook so much but I’m running out of ideas, please help.

For intel you would hope resetting the System Management Controller to sort the issue
