Adaptor Options for Charging MacBook Pro

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro with the USB-C charging cable. Do I have to charge it by using the supplied adapter or can I plug it into any USB-C block or port? For example, I have one of these outlet expanders that has traditional outlets, traditional USB ports, and USB-C ports. Can I bypass the apple adapter and plug my charging cable right into the USB-C port on that outlet expander, or do I need to go through the adapter that came with my MacBook? I have been searching online and can't seem to find out if there would be any risk to my MacBook by doing this.
