Security Alert warning by McAfee

I tried to visit a Sushiro website and it ask me to prove that I am not a robot. When I tried to click on the box, the website kinda hang and immediately I closed it. After that, my Mac keep popping out a message saying that someone else is downloading content from another computer. And when I click on the message, it lead me to the website with below warning:


Security Alert


You’ve visited illegal infected website 


Your Mac is at risk of being infected by viruses


To continue browsing safely - perform an antivirus scan

It is likely to be a scam of some sort – a lie meant to frighten you into


  • Purchasing a product you don't need,
  • Giving your financial information to criminals who will use it to clean out your bank account / run up your credit card bill, or
  • Installing malware or remote control software on your computer when you contact the "helpful" "tech support" people – software they wouldn't be able to install themselves without tricking you into doing it for them

if you actually have paid for and installed McAfee

then it is likely trying to get you to keep doing so and justify the expense with a bit

of scare tactics
