iPod not Connecting to iTunes / Not being able to download older iTunes versions

I actually have two problems.

I recently got a second hand iPod Nano (4th Gen) off eBay and I'm struggling to get it to pair with iTunes. I first tried the main strategies, (using a different cable, different usb port, even a different computer!) but that didn't work. I was wondering if the newest update of iTunes was not compatible anymore because the iPod is such an old model.

I then tried to download the Windows 64 Bit 12.10.11 version of iTunes from 2020, but it came up with an error message. (see the added screenshot)

I found some other websites such as oldversion.com and tried downloading some of the older iTunes versions, but no matter how old or new the version was, it keeps coming up with the same message.

Not sure what to do, looking to know why the iPod will not pair and why iTunes won't let me download an older version. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

No, that's not it. iTunes should works with your iPod.

"Pairing" is a Bluetooth term, which is presumably not how you're trying to connect to the iPod. If you have connected the iPod to your USB port, after a few seconds a new icon should appear at the top of the iTunes window and that's what you should click on:

If the iPod icon doesn't appear in your iTunes, try both of the following:

Going back to older versions of iTunes is not necessary and as you have found, unlikely to be possible.
