Ah OK' Tell your friend that digging around and deleting things like that, will bork his Mac.
However, feel free to share the following link if you friend is running low on disk space.
This is where your iPhone/iPad backups are stored. The backups are done via the Finder when you connect your iPhone/iPad to your Mac and do a backup. If you delete the backup folder or its contents you lose your backups.
It was not for me, a friend asked me what they were for, so that is why I contacted the Apple Community.
I have been using Apple products for over 10 years, but my friend only one month. And I was looking for a definitive answer, rather then trawling the internet.
Quick question, why are you looking there for things to remove...?
There are plenty of other options, if your iMac is running low on disk space.
Thank you for the quick reply, and it is as I thought, I will not be touching them !
