My custom label has disappeared, and I can no longer create one.
Does anyone have a solution?

Well I seemed to find a way as described by another user which advised to open the contacts app and from here you edit the contact and add another one, this worked for me sorry I wish I kept the details for you :(
My suggestion would be to contact apple support they are very helpful and will guide you through the steps to fix this issue for you.
Thank you for your suggestion. But my problem is that contacts keep resetting all phone number labels to "Phone" on contacrs. If I create a new contact with new custom labels, this also get reset back to "phone" after some hours. I don't know how long time it takes, but it happened over night.
Me too, tho I can create new custom labels, but after a short while it reset back to "phone" label. All my labels now say just "phone" on some of my contacts.
