Hey there!
I have an iMac running Mac OS Venture 13.6.1 and every time I try to update to the 13.6.4 I get a dialog stating that "Failed to prepare the software update. Please try again.".
I have tried a few times, tried also from safe mode but neither has worked.
Any possible solutions, please?

The manual method may work
In Terminal application and copy and paste the below followed by return key
It may or may not request you to input your computer password
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 13.6.4
It will manually Only Download the Full Installer called " Install Ventura "
The Application is about 12.xx GB in size and play the " Install Ventura in applications folder
It will Not Auto Launch
Make Time Machine Backup before doing any upDates.
When ready laugh the installer and follow the prompts
The Installer will self destruct upon successfully installing

Hey @DreamerArtists, I can understand how you are feeling, but I just be patient and it will work, I am sure.
Try again to complete the step of downloading the installer via Terminal, by using the command
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 13.6.4
Then when it's successfully completed, go to your Applications folder, find the installer and just follow the instructions there.
If that doesn't work, do the same exact procedure via safe mode. I am confident that everything will work out.
(*pay attention on the syntax of the command in terminal)
You are very correct using the Command you have Highlighted in red in above >>
" % "softwareupdate -d 'macOS Ventura 13.6.4-22G513' "
zsh: command not found: softwareupdate -d 'macOS Ventura 13.6.4-22G513'
Though, just tested
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 13.6.4
And it did work here
So, it did work @PRP_53, fetched the installer and I did install the OS (update) from the installer within the Apps folder.

I did try just now to just download the update by performing the following action:
"softwareupdate -d 'macOS Ventura 13.6.4-22G513' "
But again it failed. I do attach the screenshot of the message I received.

I have tried all these ideas .... waited and uploaded and still come back to the same thing....it just doesn't want to update and I am freaking out cause I think my computer is too old but it works so well. I got an SSD card and its super fast and now I will not get anymore updates .....is that what is happening here???

Can not update to Mac OS Ventura 13.6.4 from 13.6.1
