I leave it plugged in whenever it is on my desk, and just unplug when I move, as in going from home to work and back.

I would suggest that you let the battery get some use once in a while, but it is perfectly fine to keep your mac plugged in, as dialabrain said.

FWIW, System Information reports the battery condition as Good, with 492 cycles after nearly four years of constant use.

Although it is in Japanese, this is a site about batteries. Although I disagree with some parts of "Enable the [Automatically keep your Mac up to date] setting"😅, I think it is useful information overall.

I know someone who lost property in a fire caused by a stored battery. Although lithium batteries are safer than in the past, I am strongly aware that they can catch fire or be explosive under certain conditions.

Computers that are downsized, such as Intel Macs and MacBook Air, tend to have thinner and narrower exhaust ports. My MacBook Pro 2020 (Intel 13-inch) is a small PC, so the exhaust port is narrow and it gets hot easily.

There have also been reports of people connecting their MacBooks to another monitor while closed, causing the battery to swell, the keyboard to warp, and the sides to bulge. Heat is a battery's enemy. Please pay attention to the temperature and use it safely for a long time.

but now you can see it from here:

it should be there.

Thank you; I am running Sonoma 14.2.1. There is no health percentage there. Maybe it's different in an Apple Silicon mac.

Would you mind posting a screenshot of what you see there?

The only percentage I see is the percentage of charge that the battery currently has.
