Congratulations on your new Mac! As FoxFifth said, the iPhoto app is no longer supported-- the new app, Photos, will not be able to convert your iPhoto library to a Photos Library. But you can still get your pictures.

In Photos, go to File>Import and navigate to the Pictures folder where your iPhoto library is. (If it's not there, grab it from where it is and drag it to the Pictures folder.) Click on the iPhoto library, and Photos should import all the pictures and movies. Unfortunately, Photos will not maintain the album structure from iPhoto.

By the way, if you have access to a Mac running Monterey or earlier, you can convert the iPhoto library directly to a new Photos Library. That will keep the album and much of the organization.
