Apple Watch update 10.3 battery now lasted two hrs?

I updated my Apple Watch 7 gps yesterday. Them battery went down to 9% within a couple of hours. Had it on charge overnight and went to 39% after about 3 hrs charged 3 times today back on charge again now used to last a day and a half? Any clues as Its useless unless it lasts at least a day? Thanks

I had the same issue. It started about a week after installing 10.3. I was used to get about 48h on my Ultra and it dropped to less than 24 h. After closing all apps, I performed a soft reset (crown + button for a few seconds until the Apple logo appears) and removing all third party apps it is back to normal. I will now reinstall the third party apps one at a time to check if any of them causes the issue to come back. My guess is that one of the apps did not handle the update gracefully. I think we have all seen this before with iOS apps. Some of them will crash before they can start after OS updates. Hope this helps.

I believe it allows the watch to drain all the way down before it does recharge in the hope that that prolongs the life of the battery.

That's not actually the way Optimized Battery Charging works. It never lets the battery drain all the way as that would, in fact, decrease the life of the battery. What it does, is stop charging at 80% until it thinks you're going to take the watch off the charge in a while, then it charges it the rest of the way.

Charing the battery to full has no adverse effect on the battery life. What Optimized Charging is trying to avoid is the battery getting hot which can decrease the life if the battery. How

Hi Everybody,

My old apple watch 4 - after 5 years - 83% capacity of battery

Now apple watch 8 GPS+Cellular - 1 year and 1 month - 90% capacity - in last 2 days minus 2% !!!!

Today i contacted Apple support - they send me online analysis - nothing wrong with my 8 series......

Is comic - one of questions was if i swim with my watches - they are waterresistant 50 m !!!!!

So we will see what will apple do with this issue.

Update:- after a reset I was no longer able to verify the update. Restored from an old backup and then it wouldn’t charge at all despite saying my battery is at 100% health. It has now completely broken and only gets hot when I charge. It’s just over a year old so warranty isn’t valid and I’ve had to bin it. I guess all the resets and charging killed the battery for good and the 100% health was just a load of rubbish. Is this just an aggressive tactic to force people to buy apple care? So disappointed with Apple’s contempt for its customers.

That’s maybe good for you, but it’s not related to the context here.

if we’ve paid 400$ for a device we don’t want to upgrade to next model even if that means reasonably small fee. Especially when the battery itself is not an issue but the software they’re serving us . Software that’s unreliable, useless, annoying.

adding 100$ and getting 5th gen instead of 4th may sound like a solution but this is not something everyone would want. Especially not here.
