Exchange Account-Password Incorrect" problem

About 5-6 days ago this error has been popping up continuously. I have a Hotmail account connected to my iPhone mail app.

this happened to me about six months ago and it just magically went away after a few weeks.

this error pops up even when the app is not open. For example this morning I navigates to my notes app and it popped up three times.

it’s so frustrating. I red somewhere that I should limit the number of days the mail syncs but this has not helped.

seems like it happened after an iOS update. Any suggestions to try to salvage my sanity?

thank you!

Remove your email account and set it up again

Make sure that all of your emails are there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than your device. On your device, go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts. Tap the email account that you want to remove. Tap Delete Account.

When you have activated a 2-step verification/Authenticator for your Microsoft Exchange/Outlook, Yahoo, Google Mail, or AOL account, it introduces an additional layer of security, preventing the use of your regular login password when accessing your account through a web browser. In such cases, you must generate a unique and device-specific application password for use on iOS devices.

To accomplish this, navigate to the provided link, which facilitates the creation of an iOS app-specific password. This distinct password ensures a secure and seamless connection between your iOS device and your Microsoft Exchange/Outlook account, Yahoo, Google Mail, and AOL allowing you to navigate the heightened security measures while maintaining the convenience of accessing your email and other services on your iOS device.
