Arbitrary switching to Finder
When I am working on my mini it will very frequently switch to Finder. I then have to click the window I am using to get back. It is driving me mad ! What is going on ?
Mac mini, macOS 14.2

macOS has Built-In Security. see > macOS - Security - Apple
Third party junk-ware like Sophos and a long list of others, can cause all sorts of issues and ill effects.
1) Uninstall Sophos as per the developers instructions.
2) Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
3) Then restart normally and test.

It could be a bug but can also be a third party app that you have running and is misbehaving. Have you tried booting in safe mode (where 3rd party apps) won’t boot? Does the problem persist there as well?
An accidental click on the Desktop or a Finder window will change the Focus to Finder.
Other possible causes include a misbehaving keyboard, mouse, a connected USB drive or device, a third party app that needs attention.
Thanks. It happens so often that I am sure it is not accidental clicks, often when I am typing.
I have done some tests: I have another mouse but it didn't help; I than unplugged the keyboard completely and played a game using the mouse only. Still having the problem.
Any further suggestions anyone ?
Bluetooth is off Wi-Fi is off. I think the only things running are Time Machine & Sophos.
