Setting up Security Keys mac OS Sonoma

I tried setting up a security key for my Mac. After a two week delay now I can go in to add security keys. It gets to the step where it says enter the keychain password used to set up keychain. That was so long ago, I have no idea. When I click lost password the message is "If you can’t remember the iCloud Security code, you can approve this Mac using another device." and cancel. I have no idea what the other device would be. Is there any way to reset the keychain password?

then that's not a keychain password, it's some other kind of password.

if you Locked your Mac with "Find My Mac" the way to know that password is to log on to your Apple-ID account, and look for the password. When you obtain the password, it can be entered on your Mac.

you need to talk to Apple support about this. The Regular Users here have no magic for Apple-ID security issues.

Unless you deliberately changed it by some really convoluted method, the starting keychain password is your User login password. [NOT your apple-ID password]

the keychain password will only take numbers and my password contains letters and the keychain password it expects is 4 digits.
