apple pay down?

The system is down, I just spent ages on hold, finally got through, was transferred, and the Apple Pay support people said they don't know what's wrong, can't do anything about it, and we just have to wait.

The system status page still shows Apple Pay and is up and running fine but down detector and social media reports along with posts like yours show that clearly it's down.

I was able to make a payment through Messages using the apple cash card but the payment isn't showing up for me or the recipient, so there's some very buggy and disturbing stuff going on.

Official word from support is: wait and see what happens...

At the time of this posting, there seems to be some maintanence in progress.

In my case I can’t send money via Apple Pay. I says Apple Pay services are currently unavailable.

I just made a payment for over $2,000 and it came out of my bank account but the payment isn’t in the txt messages and the person also did not receive payment. Currently trying not to panic.
