iPhone in DFU Mode?!

When I plug my iPhone into my Mac, the Finder window that pops up claims that my iPhone is in DFU mode (and accordingly makes it inaccessible through Finder). The problem is that my phone does not appear to be in DFU mode (based on what I have learned about it). I never put it in DFU mode, the phone is booted and functioning normally, etc. I can find no other reports of this in Community, so I'm worried whether the phone is hacked and if I reboot it might it go into this DFU state or what else might be the cause. (I definitely don't want my phone in DFU state, and pretty much every article about DFU state is about how to enter it, rather than how to confirm your phone is not and will not boot into that state. Maybe reboot my computer and see if *that* is the source of the error?
