Watch won’t charge or restart

How do I fix a watch that has been on a charger all night but won’t charge and won’t force restart.

When I push either button the time and an empty red charging symbol show up.

No, holding down both buttons for more than 60 seconds didn’t work let alone 10 seconds.

When I put it on the charger it responds and puts the time and the charging symbol up again except this time it has a solid red circle around it.

I think I fixed this once before but I can’t remember what I did and I can’t find anything except “push both buttons”

any suggestions or do I need a Genius Bar appointment?
