When the iPhone XR is no longer compatible with recent or the latest iOS update releases, can it still be used as normal for sometime with its latest and last iOS update that it WAS able to download ?
If not, does it become outdated and therefore no longer able to be used ?

The XR has at least 3-4 more years of iOS security update support from Apple.
To give you an idea, Apple just issued a new iOS update for iPhone 7s which are at least two years older than the XR.

I have an XR in excellent condition (almost like new) with a battery health of 91% and was going to sell it to a family member (Mother in Law) but didn't want to do that if it wasn't going to last her for a good while!?
