Trouble transferring old Mac to new Airbook

I purchased a new Airbook today for use at home. When trying to transfer information the old MacBook (home) to the new computer it is trying to transfer data from my work computer (also a MacBook) and I can't figure out how to go back and start again. The system will only let me go forward. I do not want to transfer work things onto the home computer. Any advice?

If the transfer hasn't completed, you can hit Cmd-Q or force a power down by holding onto the power button until it shuts off.

If Migration Assistant has finished its job, then your only recourse is to erase the hard drive and start over: Erase and reinstall macOS - Apple Support

I'm guessing you used WiFi when you did the migration? I can't recommend this method as it's very prone to failure and corrupt installs, and would instead use an Ethernet cable between the two Macs, or a Thunderbolt 3 cable if both Macs have that port on them.

Hope this helps.
