I have a iMac late 2011 should i force an upgrade

I was gifted an iMac from 2011 and i updated to from lion to high sierra. I then realized that was all the updates i was able to do. I really want Mojave so should I just deal with it or force an upgrade, and if so how?

You won't be forcing an upgrade beyond High Sierra, the last operating system supported by Apple on that Late 2011 iMac. Deal with it, or seriously consider a newer Mac, be that something from Apple Refurbished, or a new Apple Silicon Mac.

Ordinarily, when one prepares to gift a Mac, they wipe the Mac and perform a clean install of the operating system that shipped with it, allowing the recipient to perform the setup process on a first boot. This eliminates the conflicts of former user Apple IDs and other cruft on the machine.
