The question would be whether an authorized repair shop might have the battery in stock or can still get a replacement battery from Apple.

Make a few calls to get an idea about whether a battery replacement might still be possible.
Apple still replaces batteries in iPhone 6s models.
Interesting. I would think if they still show a device as being serviceable for things like battery replacement, they should offer the service they say they offer.

If the shop or Apple has the battery in stock. The iPhone 6s is now a Vintage product, and Apple has the option to decline service on the product.
The Apple Store here will not replace a battery in an SE (1st Gen), which is also a Vintage product....even though the price is listed in the Apple battery service document. An authorized shop might have the battery in stock though.
I also noticed a post about the same model.....an SE (1st Gen) earlier today and the user was reporting that Apple declined to service the product as well.
I'm going to check with a local authorized repair shop that I user regularly to ask about battery availability on 5-6+ year old iPhones.

The cost is $69 for an iPhone 6s Plus.
