Mail settings for mail app not working

Hi, I just got a iPhone 15 Pro and the changes I make in Settings -> Mail, does not get updated in the Mail app. The Mail app is only showing the default options. Example below

Changing the swipe options for mail in settings

Expected behavior:

new swipe options shown

Actual behavior:

keeps old swipe options

IPad Pro stock Mail app shortcomings I use stock Mail on my iPhone 14 quite happily so started to use it on my new iPad Pro only to find it a frustrating experience and rather different. As per the attached screenshots, with iPhone on the bottom, the iPhone allows me to Close/Collapse an e-mail by tapping the sideways chevron (<) on the top left of the screen which seems to be standard on other iPad mail apps such as Gmail and Outlook. This < does not exist on the iPad stock Mail. All I can do is press the top left square icon to open the email header listing, leaving the email still in the background, instead of it disappearing, until it is covered by another selection from the header list. Maybe I've missed something in Settings but, if not, I shall have to revert back to another, more standard mail app. Any comments/suggestions will be appreciated. TIA 00

Apple mail: blue dot remains Lately the blue dot does not disappear from mail in the Apple mail app on my Iphone 14 pro(17.4.1). This only happens when the mail is read elsewhere, then synchronized. However, despite the blue dots all still being there, if you filter by "unread", none of the email show up. The app knows they have been read, but does not clear the blue dot. Restarting the phone or close the app does not help. I end up having to read each of the emails again on the phone. Why?
