Videos is Low Res when sending in Messages

Full Resolution video with 15 Pro Max. But when I send via messages app to anyone they receive on low resolution copy. Obviously this is for speed/compatibility but I can't override. I went into settings>videos & Low Quality is NOT enabled. I've also tried sending from Photos. I select the high res video, then options and select FORMAT>Current. Then I get "message too long, would you like to send a smaller clip". Is there any was I can send this an SMS/iMessage full res video? Or is this a limitation of the underlying protocol, SMS/MMS?
