You have a hardware issue—
1 that distortion looks very similar to a RAM failure symptom.
2 A screens shot comes direct from the GPU to test, or plug in an external monitor to test your GPU and compare your results.
3 The other possibility is your Display is failing.
In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
