Prompted to allow CarPlay permissions every time I restart or power on iPhone 12.
Previous thread that I posted on this topic has suspiciously disappeared. I have an iPhone 12 that I use as a stand-alone device attached to my 2021 Toyota Avalon’s CarPlay Port. I use it just to receive calls, to play Apple Music and for navigation. It stays in the car so I don’t have to connect it or disconnect every time I leave the car because that’s annoying. I usually power down the phone and it turns right back on when I start the car. Sometimes I forget, and depending on how long the car is left powered down, sometimes the phone runs out of battery and needs to charge briefly before powering on fully.
Every. Single. Time. That the phone has been power cycled and reconnects to CarPlay I am reprompted by the iPhone 12 as to whether to allow CarPlay permissions to operate the iPhone, while the iPhone is locked. This cannot. And I repeat cannot. Be the way that the iPhone is supposed to operate. It never connects to a different car. It’s never moved. It’s never disconnected or reconnected to the car other than when it is power cycled. And yet I am asked every single time by the phone, whether to allow permissions to connect to the car while locked.
Yes I moved the slider bar under settings to allow devices that connect via usb to access the phone when locked. That was only the first f’ning thing I did when troubleshooting the problem myself.
If I’m mistaken and this is in actuality the correct operation of iPhone, then I believe I have made a terrible mistake in purchasing Apple products throughout the years. And if this thread disappears suspiciously again, I guess I will have received my answer from Apple “support”. Thank you.
