IMac2013 - accidentally erased OS because Catalina was stuck in loop and would not complete update.
now when I go to install OS it gives option to install OS X Mountain Lion. But disk to select is blank.
when I click on Disk Utility I see the following.
500.11 GB WDC
below it Disk0s2
disk1
Mac OS X Base System
Earlier Mac models
Use Disk Utility to Erase the topmost device - "500.11 GB WDC..."
Use Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and a GUID partition map/scheme.
Name it "Macintosh HD" (without quotes).
Then return to the Installer and try again, this time selecting Macintosh HD as the install destination.
