Wouldn’t EV Charging Stations be a good idea to have showing in the map?

Ok. I am not in Canada and when I enter the search term "EV Charging Stations" in Apple maps on macOS 14.3, it shows me an overview map of my city with 30 charging station results found. I own no EV.

You can let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

Meanwhile, there are lots of aps in the App Store that will give you that information.

I just typed in EV Charging Stations and they all popped up. I assume you could add it to your Favourites. Perhaps if you search for it on a regular basis, the AI will kick in and it will start recommending them to you.

I don't have an EV and I rarely drive any kind of vehicle, so what I see in Maps is going to be different. There are no Gas Stations in any of my lists.

Well, they are there already, but they are not really needed, because every EV has a navigation app that will guide you to the nearest charging site, and even tell you how many charge points are available and not in use.

Yes maybe but.. for longer drives over multiple provinces it would make trip planning and safety easier to have the charging stns integrated into the route planner and general info listed on the map like restaurants, gas stns and the like.

All EV vehicles have route planners built in. In addition to showing charge points they also show the number of open chargers at each. They also know your state of charge, and will plan your route to minimize your time waiting to recharge by displaying how much charge to add at each stop.

mine does show recent but after it has a vertical list with gas stations first then all the other stuff.

it doesn’t matter to much but a EV button would be nice. For a lot of cars you can just ask for EV stations in nav system.

I think if you just search for an EV station, and especially if you let Siri give you directions to one, and then go there, it will start recommending them and it will show up in the list.

These lists are customized. I don't like to drive. You can tell how offended I was in my previous post that Driving Schools and Parking even showed up for me at all. I would not want to see EV Charging stations in my list.

Aside from that, the AI is pretty good if you give a chance and feed it some data. It can even be a little creepy once it starts offering directions and driving conditions to the place you are about to drive to.

That's what "you" get.

I get "Recents" listing my last 3 searches. Under that is "Find Nearby" with a horizontal list of Transit Stations, Fast Food, Lunch, Coffee Shops, Grocery Stores, Driving Schools?, Hotels, and Parking. I did recently do a transit search. I have no idea where Driving Schools, Hotels, and Parking came from.

After that is all marketing junk from Apple - City Guides, Guides We Love (well, that Apple loves). After that is a list of, I don't know 2 or 3 thousand "guides" grouped by publisher - about 2-3 hundred groups. That's crazy. 7% accurate content, 3% AI gibberish, and 90% adware junk. Such is the state of the Apple app in 2024.
