MacbookPro lid not closing well

I saw a post from a year or so ago about a 13 inch 2013 MacbookPro not closing or springing open a bit when closed. It was suggested that it may be a swollen battery. My daughter has a similar issue, but it is not a swollen battery. I have seen them and they can noticably show a gap in the bottom case, but her case is quite even 'and' I had installed a new battery but didn't notice the closing problem til she just reported this. So...I wonder what else it may be, whether broken clips on the bottom case could effect the hinge in some way or somother hinge or alignment issue. Like to hear some suggestions other than a swollen battery that is not the cae on my daughter's 13 inch 2014 MBP. Thanks for any guidance

A swollen battery will push the Trackpad up which will prevent the Display from closing fully. This can happen before there is any separation of the Bottom Case. The battery is made up of multiple cells and sometimes only a single cell may be swelling at first. In fact before the bottom case separates, you may notice the laptop bottom case may begin to bow a bit so the laptop no longer sits firmly & completely solid on a flat table top.

If the hinge mounting screws are loose, then there would be a noticeable wobble & looseness in the Display.

My money is on a swollen battery. You should have the laptop checked out by a technician since a swollen battery can physically break the Trackpad.
