iPhone delta app Calendar Permission Required but app not listed in Privacy & Security

Good day Gang,

iPhone 15 Pro

iOS 17.3

Problem - Delta App not adding itineraries/flights to iOS Calendar.

Error Message - "Calendar Permissions Required"

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Looked in Delta App. No Calendar options
  2. Looked in Settings>Privacy & Security>Calendar. Delta App not listed.
  3. Looked in Settings>Calendar. No way of adding Delta App (Yes, I knew this was a longshot)
  4. Deleted Delta App
  5. Restarted iPhone
  6. Installed Delta App

Same problem.

Anymore Ideas?

TIA,

James

I’m running 17.4.1 and once I added my flight to the delta fly app, while looking at the details of the flight, I clicked on the 3 dots on the top right of the screen and it gave me the option to ‘add to calendar’ after that I got a requested to give the app full access, which I did, and now all my upcoming flights are on my calendar app.

I could only get it to work if I give Delta "Full Access", so I'm pretty sure it's a Delta problem. Why would I want to give them that? It used to work when you just had "Add Events Only" checked. So now I'm turning full access on only when I add a flight, and then turning it off. You find the "Add to Calendar" function when you pull up your flight, then tap the 3 dots at the top right.

AppleCare says this is an issue with the FlyDelta app. There is no way to "force" an app to have access to the Calendar if it hasn't asked for it. Any app that has asked for and has been granted is automatically added, depending on what kind of access you've allowed the app: None, Add events only, or Full access (see image, attached to this post)

Settings>Privacy and Security>Calendars>[Name of app]>None (No Access), Add Events Only, Full Access.

This might be glitch in the FlyDelta app on newer phones running the latest iOS. Delta just hasn't caught up with it. If you are a Skymiles member, especially a Medallion member, call Delta out on Social media and lodge a complaint via Feedback on their website, by email, or by phone.

@Epic007, If you double click on the .ics file, it automatically adds it to the Calendar, regardless where you download it from.

If you scroll up in this thread, you'll see that I was able to download a .ics file from the Delta website. BUT it was only for the outbound leg--the website would not download the entire RT itinerary.

Something is definitely wrong with Delta website AND the app. Delta either hasn't updated their app to the new iOS, or their update is buggy. Spent an hour on the phone with AppleCare iOS technician and that was the conclusion we came to after going through the troubleshooting steps.
