Solution for White Noise in Background (Airpod Max)
Solution for white noise/rain sound/light background noise heard in the background while actively using Airpods Max
If you are experiencing/hearing what seems to be white noise in the background when listening to audio on AirPods Max, try this to fix the issue! :)
While you’re actively wearing/using your AirPods Max-
• Go to Settings on the device that your AirPods Max are currently connected to.
• Once you have opened Settings, look near the top of the Settings ‘home screen’. The setting you are looking should have an image of a headphone, followed by a Setting banner title that lists the name of the AirPods Max.
-(For example, to the right of the headphone image, it should say something like: Katie’s AirPods Max).
• If you click on this banner option, you will then be brought to the AirPods Max ‘control center’.
• Once you’ve reached the AirPods Max ‘control center’, look for/scroll down until you see a setting titled “Noise Control”
• There are 3 options for Noise Control:
-The 1st option is titled Noise Control- “Off”, which turns off static-y, rain-like, white noise-ish background noise that you’re hearing in the background of your audio. This setting turns off noise management.
-The 2nd option is titled Noise Control- “Transparency”, which is the setting that has been making you hear white noise playing in the background of all audio listened to while this “Transparency” setting is on. This settings lets in external sounds.
-The 3rd option is titled Noise Control- “Noise Cancellation”. This setting blocks out external sounds
• Please note, if this Noise Control setting is already turned off, make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS update and also ensure that in the AirPods Max ‘control center’ within Settings, you have your “Buttons Cycle Between” setting set up with only the “Off” mode and the “Noise Cancellation” mode checked. Doing this will ensure that you don’t press the button on the AirPods Max that will enable the “Transparency” mode by accident.
• If you are still having issues with this sound, try turning off/charging your AirPods Max.
• If this issue persists, please contact Apple Support, as your AirPods Max may have a firmware, software, electrical, or wiring issue that needs to be looked at/fixed by an Apple tech professional.
