Quicktime crashing when I open it

I was editing a video and Quicktime crashed. After that, even rebooting wouldn't make it work. Quicktime is crashing repeatedly.

After a lot of struggle I deleted the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX/Data and then Quicktime started opening as expected.

Thanks for reporting this.

I have had no trouble with QuickTime Player and I have wondered what is the root of the problems others experience (besides corrupting the system with 3rd party virus apps, "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" apps (CleanMyMac, MacKeeper etc)).

My cleanly installed Sonoma does not have that folder, but it has:

~/Library/Containers/QuickTime Player/Data

Maybe yours is a leftover from some old macOS version? Did you have both folders?
