Safari crashing on Mac whenever asked for payment info

I'm using Safari 17.1.2 and it freezes whenever I get to any page asking for payment info. This has only started happening within the last month or so, without my changing any settings. I used to have no problem with this. I'm not blocking cookies, I don't block popups, and this has been going on since the last update to my computer. I'm about ready to give up on safari and just start using chrome. My phone doesn't have this issue, just the Mac.

Problem with Safari on Banking and Payment sites Over the past few months I've noticed problems with Safari on my online banking app (USAA) and with online payment apps for certain merchants (Western Disposal and others). I'm using Safari 16.0 on Big Sur 11.7. With the banking app, everything works fine except it hangs up after I start the online bill pay process. With the payment apps it hangs when I'm filling out info like credit card number. When I switch to Firefox I have no problems. The bank tech support suggested I try another browser, but didn't say they don't specifically support Safari. I never had this problem in the past. Has Safari changed something internal such that it conflicts with these sites, has something changed in the community such that developers are moving away from Safari or ? thank you

Safari (MacOS) loads extremely slow Safari sometimes start loading new pages extremely slow (like taking >10 seconds) Closing and re-opening Safari fixes it, but only for a while. I have had this issue for 2 years now. Any tips or ideas? Notes It is not network related, Chrome works like normal Updating to Tahoe 26 did not solve it, it was present on previous versions as well I have tried deleting all history, cache and cookies Turning private relay on or off doesn't change anything Had this issue on M1 mac mini, but also on M3 macbook pro. Never on iPhone.
