So no one here in the Apple Support Communities works for Apple but we do our best too help with issues. If you want to give more info about what’s happening with your Apple TV I can try to help while you wait.

You did not indicate which model of Apple TV you have.

My three Apple TVs are all greater than or equal to 64GB of memory so there is plenty of memory for apps and updates.

The minimum one would want now is 32GB.

If you have a 14GB or less version, it would be wise to update.

When you update the IOS on phones and pads, they may not work so well with the really old Apple TVs.

However, one would think your dedicated Apple TV remote would still work.
