On my iPhone 7 (OS 15.8), my Apple Wallet only allows me to add Chinese Transit Cards.
I know there are other threads on this but the solutions do not work.
Has anyone gotten to the bottom of this ?
Or is it just a preliminary indication of the inevitable Communist takeover?
The age of the phone could be the issue, but it seems like a strange hill for Apple to die on. If my phone can handle Chinese transit cards why can't it handle Australian ones?
It generally boils down to security requirements of each company and also the desire to rewrite old software to meet security and safety requirements and standards.
That's a good question and I think we might be getting closer to the root of the problem.
If I'm understanding correctly, there was an old system of transit card number recognition which has been replaced by a new backwards-non-compatible system of recognising transit card numbers.
Apparently, Chinese Transit Card numbers can work in both systems, and for some reason Apple have chosen to deliver those to users of older iPhones regardless of what country they live in.
Not being able to use this feature is not a big deal, I was was just interested to find out if there was a something I could do remedy it (other than buying a new phone and hoping that this would resolve it).

Where do you live? You do realize the iPhone 7 is about 7 ½ years old. Its software is 2+ years behind in features and development. The only updates it gets are safety/security.
The question is does Australian transit systems still support old iPhone and old versions of iOS.
