Keyboard film separating on Macbook pro

Hi, the "O" key has stopped working on my MacBook Pro (15 inch, mid-2012). I've ruled out the rubber plunger and scissor clip as issues.

I'm unsure of terminology, but there seems to be an issue with the contact; I think the thin film is separating, thus the key has lost all sensitivity (manually pressing it with the key removed can get it to work).

Is this a common issue that is able to be addressed? Thank you.
