Use a New Zealand iPhone 15 in the UK with a 3 mobile sim?

I have a friend who brought a standard iPhone 15 while in New Zealand on holiday and took it back home to the United Kingdom only to find it won't work (call, txt) with their 3 Mobile SIM card. Any solutions or ideas?

If your friend set up service with a carrier in New Zealand, then the phone is locked to a New Zealand carrier.

The New Zealand carrier will need to unlock the phone so the U.K. carrier can set up service on the phone.

It might be another discussion, but it is never a good idea to buy a phone in one country if you will be using it in another country most of the time. You run into both carrier lock issues and warranty issues.

The U.K. carrier is going to need to provide some help for your friend other than simply saying the phone won't work. We need to know what requirements need to be met for the U.K. carrier to set up service on the phone.
