iOS 17 now prints “Scale to Fit” by default

Using AirPrint to print from iPad Pro 11/iPhone 12 that were just updated to iOS 17; printing to a brother HL-547ODW printer. Before updating, 8 1/2” x 11” docs (PDFs, Google Docs, web pages, etc.) printed true to size, no shrinkage. Now, everything is printing “Scale to Fit” and is shrinking output with at least an extra 1/4” of border.

There are no apparent setting options to change this. Output doesn’t match the preview (preview does not indicate any apparent shrinkage). Any graphic design professionals out there notice this issue and found a way to fix or a workaround so pages print full size?

Your available print options will be determined principally by your AirPrint printer’s capabilities - and the version of AirPrint that it supports.

Each AirPrint printer will “advertise” its presence - and the print options that it supports. What you can see as available print options are almost entirely controlled by the printer, not iPadOS.

Be aware that AirPrint has evolved over recent years - and older versions of AirPrint have been deprecated in iOS/iPadOS 17.x. In updating your devices to iPadOS 17.x, an older version of AirPrint, used by your printer, may no longer be fully supported.

Check to see if the printer manufacturer has released a firmware update for your printer model.
